Fotokalafi (Finau) Vea |
Loni's love for music began with his mother, Fotokalafi Finau, who was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley. In the early 1960s Loni spent much of his childhood working at the family-owned cinema, Finau Theater in Nuku'alofa. His days of taking in tickets at the cinema exposed him to movies featuring Elvis Presley and popular music by Chuck Berry, Connie Francis, Fats Domino, Cliff Richard, Peter Posa and others. Loni's love for music was born. To attract people to the movies they put a pair of speakers outside the theater and played an hour of rock and roll music before the movie started. For years the theme song for Finau Theater was an Elvis' song "Kiss Me Quick" that was played every night before the movies began. |
